Working on a project for a client, I knew that we needed a breakthrough. Two years previously this had been one of the client’s best revenue streams, but through a series of events, which included a failing local and national economy, major job loss in the sector that had supplied the majority of customers for this product, last year the clients found themselves with a stalled business entity.
One day recently, we had a little success. A sale. The first one in months and months.
“How did they come in?” I asked, expecting to hear the source of how they found out about the product.
“How did they come in?” I asked, expecting to hear the source of how they found out about the product.
“I prayed them in,” she replied in all seriousness.
I prayed them in. I was expecting to hear newspaper or internet but instead I got God.
“Awesome,” I replied. “You keep praying them in and I will too!”
In a roundabout way, God put the idea for the way to the breakthrough into my head, so I called up my associate and presented her with the plan.
“God is telling me that we need to march around the client's entire parcel of property and pray unceasingly to resolve the issue and turn this around. Are you in or out?”
Without questioning my sanity she was in, and like Joshua we marched and prayed and marched and prayed. Afterwards, we both felt hopeful, each of us waiting with great anticipation: not if, not when, but living with great expectation based on nothing more than pure faith. In the meantime, we continued to pray.
One day I picked up my phone and my associate said, “I have two appointments today and one is to write up the sale.”
Over the next few weeks, interest for the product grew and so did the sales. God was bringing them in and we could clearly see that God had certainly been faithful and turned things around, and I could literally feel that we were on the precipice of something even bigger. God had something greater planned for the success of the client's entire business, and as a result, mine as well. All we had to do was keep believing . . . keep praying . . . and continue to wait.
However, since we were being obedient and giving the glory to God . . . guess whose attention we drew?
We were working in direct conflict with the opposition and things were about to get ugly: the lion was readying himself to pounce and devour the Christians, and he did it using a means that we all love.
1 Peter 5:8 Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour.
